Sue Hughes
Education Development Manager
I started teaching in London over 30 years ago feeling privileged to be able to facilitate exciting learning opportunities for children. Making and flying hot air balloons, investigating ‘crime scenes,’ engaging with the big local football clubs, developing songs, plays and big art with them, challenging them to think, creating memories and hopefully inspiring them all.
I left as Deputy Head and since then I have worked in several West Cheshire schools and focussed in the main on those who for whatever reason, find it difficult to engage. During my many years in a large Chester Primary School I worked as teacher of the dyslexic, in Year 4 and Reception and was SENCo, Assistant Head Teacher and most recently Interim Deputy. But threading across the years was my continued passion for children’s engagement, so when Passion for Learning reached out to our school, we were thrilled to welcome their volunteers for 1:1 work and Enrichment Club. Now I am delighted to join the company as Education Development Manager. My role is to develop innovative ways to enhance the life chances of the children and families that we support, and to develop learning resources to complement this. I feel I have come full circle and am once again privileged to be able to focus my energies on motivating children to dream big and to believe that they can!
