Operations Manager

I first learned about Passion for Learning at a volunteer fair in 2012, and immediately decided to volunteer my time as I loved the idea of using my skills to help local children.  I volunteered at a primary school in Chester for a year and really enjoyed the experience.

Whilst my background is banking and finance (I worked for HBOS for 17 years), I’ve always enjoyed helping people.  The financial crisis in 2008 left me redundant, and I took the opportunity for a complete change and embarked upon a career in the charity sector. I have never looked back! I feel privileged to have been able to help charities, voluntary and community groups survive and thrive.

I have also worked in the Further Education Sector. Working with young adults and helping to raise their aspirations was incredibly rewarding.  I was able to help hundreds of young people develop the skills and knowledge to maximise their career opportunities.

In my role as Operations Manager at Passion for Learning, no two days are the same!  I’m responsible for the operational management of new and current projects and also contribute to the charity’s growth, service delivery, innovation and sustainability.  I particularly enjoy being able to play my part in enabling Passion for Learning to support hundreds of children who need a little bit of extra help.
